Training

Peter Edwards has been training in mental health and incapacity law for over 30 years. He is available for in house training.

For those who do not know me here is my background.

I am a solicitor and Director of Peter Edwards Law which is a specialist Mental Health, Incapacity and Human Rights Practice. In 2007 I was nominated as Mental Health Lawyer of the Year. In partnership with Dave Sheppard I run IMHL, a training and conference company. I am a President of a large mental health charity, based in Liverpool, Imagine.

My past appointments include: Legal Consultant World Health Organisation, Law Society Chief Assessor Mental Health Review Tribunal Panel, President Mental Health Lawyers Association, Member of Central Policy Committee of Mental Health Act Commission, Vice Chair Law Society Mental Health and Disability Committee, Member NACRO Advisory Committee. I was also a Member of MIND’s Council of Management

My philosophy of delivering training is that it must be relevant, accessible and entertaining for those attending. I will work with your service to establish the most effective way of delivering this and tailoring it to the needs of your staff. Copy of  the documentation that supports the day is provided in advance of the training event.

I train not only those involved in mental health, learning disability and old age services but also police, dentists, general hospitals, solicitors and everyone whose professional life brings them into contact with those who might be mentally disordered or lack capacity.
